
Target Group
Level 2 (Introductory) is intended for personnel whose roles can influence the creation, detection, or control of a well influx. It is suitable for positions such as Roughneck, Derrickman, Barge Engineer, BOP/Subsea Engineer, Mud Logger, Wellsite Drilling Data Engineer, and similar roles.

Candidates must be pre-registered with IWCF
Objective
To give candidates a solid grasp of how wells are drilled and the core principles required to maintain well control.
Course Outcomes
By the end of the course, candidates should be able to:

Explain key geological considerations and outline the well construction process.

Recognize the causes, warning signs, indicators, and hazards of an influx.

Describe how to secure the well and safely remove an influx.

Perform relevant oilfield calculations.

Identify the main features, functions, and uses of well control equipment.

Explain barrier envelope concepts and the fundamentals of risk management.
Assessment
Delegates are assessed through practical simulations and written exams. A minimum score of 70% is required in all IWCF written assessments to successfully complete the course.
