TARGET GROUP

The Basic Onshore Emergency Response (BOER) course is designed for personnel working in the onshore oil and gas industry who are required to be prepared for emergency situations at onshore facilities, worksites, or operational locations.

COURSE AIM

To provide participants with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to respond appropriately during onshore emergency situations, including evacuation procedures, firefighting, self-rescue, and emergency first aid.

This course is developed based on the globally recognized BOSIET / FOET syllabus framework.

TRAINING OBJECTIVES

Upon successful completion of the course, delegates will be able to:

  • Identify hazards specific to the onshore oil and gas industry that may cause or increase the likelihood of fire

  • Demonstrate appropriate emergency response actions in a simulated onshore environment

  • Effectively use basic firefighting equipment

  • Practice self-rescue techniques in low visibility and smoke-filled environments

  • Perform basic first aid techniques

COURSE CONTENT

  • Identification of hazards and emergency situations in onshore oil and gas operations

  • Evacuation and escape procedures

  • Basic firefighting techniques

  • Self-rescue techniques in smoke-filled environments

  • Basic emergency first aid

ASSESSMENT & CERTIFICATION

Delegates will be assessed through:

  • Direct observation during practical exercises

  • Oral and/or written questioning as appropriate

A certificate of successful completion will be issued to delegates who meet the required assessment criteria.

PRE-REQUISITES

No prerequisites are required to attend this course.

COURSE DURATION

Approximately 8 hours (1 day).

MEDICAL REQUIREMENT

Delegates must:

  • Possess a valid offshore medical certificate, or

  • Hold a company-approved medical certificate

VALIDITY

Four (4) years from the date of successful course completion.
