Lockout-Tagout (LOTO) devices such as key locks or combination locks are used to hold energy isolation devices in a safe position throughout the duration of a job.
These locks are required to be standardized in color, shape, or size to ensure clear identification and prevent misuse.
Industry best practice recommends the use of red-colored locks and devices for LOTO systems; however, in some facilities, different colors may be used to distinguish between trades or departments.
