COURSE AIM
To provide personnel onboard Mobile Offshore Units (MOU’s), offshore installations and vessels engaged in offshore oil and gas operations with training and awareness of the correct personal survival techniques to adopt in an emergency situation.
COURSE CONTENT

- By the end of the program, students will have knowledge of and be able to describe, list and / or demonstrate:
- Types of life-saving appliances normally carried onboard Mobile Offshore Units (MOU’s), offshore installations and vessels engaged in offshore oil and gas operations
- Location of personal life-saving appliances, deploying of life rings and associated equipment, principles concerning survival at sea including:
- The need to be prepared for any emergency – emergency signals
- Actions to take for a man overboard
- Modes of evacuation
- Actions to be taken as a passenger when abandoning by boat
- Location devices
- Main dangers to survivors and enhancing survival time
- Actions to be taken when called to muster stations – mustering of personnel
- Actions to be taken when required to abandon ship / offshore installation
- Actions to be taken when aboard a survival craft – life-raft
- Actions to be taken when in the water Rescue Techniques
COMPETENCY
Participants are required to pass an assessment of practical skills and a written or verbal examination of theory.
PRE REQUISITES
There are no course prerequisites for students attending the Personal Survival Course.
COURSE DURATION
This course is conducted over one half (1/2) day.
METHOD OF TRAINING
The course consists of both theory and practical elements.
