2. Course Structure & Entry Pathways
To accommodate different experience levels, the course is structured into flexible pathways:
a. Offshore Crane Operator – 05 Days
Designed for individuals with little or no experience.
Provides comprehensive training on crane fundamentals, safety principles, and operational techniques.
b. Offshore Crane Operator – 02 Days (Refresh)
Designed for experienced crane operators.
Provides updates on latest standards, safety practices, and operational improvements to enhance performance and compliance.
3. Prerequisites
Participants are required to meet basic fitness and capability requirements to ensure safe operation:
- Adequate vision (with or without correction) and depth perception
- Ability to distinguish colors where required for operation
- Sufficient hearing capability (with or without aid)
- No medical conditions that may affect safe operation
These requirements align with general industry practices for crane operation in high-risk environments.
4. Assessment & Certification
Participants will be evaluated through both theoretical and practical assessments:
- Written Examination: Minimum passing score of 80%
- Practical Assessment: 100% competency required in hands-on operation
Note:
Participants who miss a significant portion of the course may be required to retake the full program to ensure competency.
Upon successful completion, participants will receive a PVD Training Certificate, confirming their competency in offshore crane operations.

d. Operation, Inspection & Maintenance
- Crane usage and inspection categories
- Preventive maintenance and lubrication
- Load testing procedures
- Safety systems (load indicators, ESD, controls)
