PVD Training Partners with DEHN on Lightning Protection

As part of its strategy to expand its ecosystem of specialized technical services for the oil and gas industry, PVD Training and DEHN — a leading German technology group specializing in lightning and surge protection — have established an initial strategic cooperation framework, with the aim of positioning PVD Training as DEHN’s training and technical service partner for Vietnam’s oil and gas market.

DEHN is a technology group with decades of experience in lightning and surge protection, supported by modern simulation facilities, standardized training content, international quality standards, and reference projects across the global oil and gas industry. PVD Training, meanwhile, brings extensive experience in delivering safety and technical training services to oil and gas companies, together with strong market access, an established client network of asset owners and EPC contractors, and proven capabilities in delivering training and certification within the oil and gas industrial ecosystem.

The cooperation framework between the two parties focuses on four key areas. First, training and certification, with the initial milestone being a Lightning Protection Risk Assessment training course scheduled for November 2026, for which DEHN will develop the technical content and PVD Training will participate as the training partner while supporting certification for participants. Second, risk assessment and technical services, including lightning and surge protection risk assessments for existing facilities and projects, the design and simulation of lightning protection systems, as well as simulation of AC/DC coupling points for gas pipeline systems. Third, product supply cooperation, under which PVD Training will act as DEHN’s partner in introducing lightning protection products and solutions to asset owners and EPC contractors in Vietnam. Fourth, as a longer-term direction, the two parties will explore the potential localization of lightning protection product manufacturing for the Vietnamese and regional markets, subject to the outcomes of the first three areas of cooperation.

In addition, PVD Training provides maintenance and inspection services for fixed firefighting systems, including water-based firefighting systems, foam (AFFF) systems, gas firefighting systems such as FM200, and equivalent systems. The work includes inspecting the condition of pipes, valves, nozzles, activation devices, and related components to ensure the system can operate effectively in the event of a fire or explosion.

Additionally, the service includes inspection and maintenance of breathing and rescue equipment, such as SCBA and escape aids, to ensure readiness for use in emergency situations.
